The institute, located in downtown S\u00e3o Paulo, is a six-story building, three of which are occupied by cell culture, virology, histology and bioinformatics laboratories, built and furnished with equipment purchased largely with FAPESP funding. One of the institute&#8217;s objectives is to centralize the research projects conducted by physicians, professors, and graduate students of almost every clinical and surgical field in laboratories across the many departments of the Central Hospital and the School of Medical Sciences of the Santa Casa. \u201cThe Santa Casa has many researchers whose work is dispersed all over the institution.
