The speakers were Vanderlan Bolzani, professor at the Paulista State University (Unesp) at Araraquara and one of the coordinators of the Biota-FAPESP Program, and Biologist V\u00e2nia Regina Pivello, from the S\u00e3o Paulo University (USP).<\/p>\n<p>According to Vanderlan, the substances produced by the cerrado plants can also be useful to humans. She refers to compounds which may be the basis for new drugs.
