He was recovering from surgery on his femur when he had a heart attack. The son of writers, Oswald de Andrade and Patr\u00edcia Galv\u00e3o, \u2018Pagu\u2019, Rud\u00e1 did a cinema degree in Italy and was the curator at the Brazilian Film Collection in the 1950s. He was one of the founders of the cinema course at the School of Communication and Arts of the University of S\u00e3o Paulo (<i>ECA<\/i>&#8211;<i>USP<\/i>) and directed the Museum of Image and Sound between 1970 and 1981.
