The appointments were made by S\u00e3o Paulo Governor Geraldo Alckmin. Brito Cruz, a professor at the Gleb Wataghin Physics Institute of the University of Campinas (Unicamp), has been science director of FAPESP since 2005. He received his undergraduate degree in electronic engineering from the Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA) and his master\u2019s degree (1980) and doctorate (1983) in science, both from Unicamp. He was the director of the Gleb Wataghin Physics Institute and dean of research at Unicamp. From 2002 to 2005, he served as president of Unicamp and, from 1996 to 2002, as president of FAPESP. Engler has been FAPESP\u2019s administrative director since 1993. He received his undergraduate degree in agronomic engineering from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture at USP (Esalq\/USP) and is a full professor at Esalq\u2019s Department of Economics, Administration, and Sociology, where he formerly served as director. He earned a doctorate in agronomy from Esalq and a master\u2019s of science and doctorate in agricultural economics from Ohio State University.
