In all, there were 7,778 master\u2019s degree holders between 1996 and 2009. At the time the research by the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation of Amazonas State (Secti-AM) was completed, 95% of them were employed. On the national level, even though the region still ranked lowest, the number of master\u2019s degree holders rose by 2.81% to 5.05%. The data is found in the second edition of the <em>Cadernos de CT&amp;I Amazonas<\/em> (ST&amp;I Journal of Amazonas), published by Secti-AM which used a methodology implemented by the Center for Strategic Studies and Management in Science, Technology and Innovation (CGEE) of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) to gather the figures on degree recipients in academic and non-academic master\u2019s degree programs.<\/p>\n<p>The same study assessed the employability status of these master\u2019s degree holders. The studies cover the states of Amazonas, with 2,012 master\u2019s degree holders, Par\u00e1, 2,818, Tocantins, 814, Rond\u00f4nia, 756, Roraima, 365, Amap\u00e1, 364, and Acre, 295. Of the 7,424 master\u2019s degree holders with jobs during the period, the majority, or 3,021, were working formally as of the end of 2009 in the area of education. Next, 2,982 were working in public administration, defense and social security.
