Pesquisa FAPESP<\/em> was featured prominently in the announcement of the Awards for Reporting on the Atlantic Forest, sponsored by the Alliance for Conservation of the Atlantic Forest. Two of its reports were awarded prizes in the Magazine category. First prize was given to Carlos Fioravanti for his article entitled \u201cCircles of Time<\/a>\u201d about studies of tree trunks conducted to detect climate changes. In second place was \u201cDirect Flight<\/a>\u201d by Francisco Bicudo and Maria Guimar\u00e3es, about studies of bird species that reveal relationships between the Atlantic Forest and the Amazon jungle.<\/p>\n

Third place went to \u201cBuried Treasure\u201d by Andr\u00e9 Juli\u00e3o, of Unesp Ci\u00eancia<\/em>. Under the Newspaper category, the winners were Daniela Chiaretti, of Valor Econ\u00f4mico<\/em>; Giovana Girardi, from O Estado de S\u00e3o Paulo<\/em>; and Katia Brebatti, of Gazeta do Povo<\/em>, which is published in Paran\u00e1 State.
