The German group Holtzbrinck, which owns Macmillan, will hold a 53% share in the new company. The remaining share will be held by BC Partners, the London-based company that acquired Springer for over \u20ac3 billion in 2013. The British company plans to sell its share in a public offering within the next four years. On the basis of the number of articles published, the new company will account for 13% of the market, behind Elsevier, which publishes 23% of all scientific articles in circulation.
