Equipped with sensors and radar units installed at different heights, the tower will collect data on greenhouse gases, aerosols, cloud properties and air-mass transport. This information will be transmitted to the laboratories of the National Institute for Research on the Amazon (INPA) and the Max Planck Institutes for Chemistry and Biogeochemistry in Germany, which are partners on the project. The observatory, taller than the Eiffel Tower and built at a cost of \u20ac8.4 million, is linked to the Large-Scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Experiment in Amazonia (LBA).
