The crystals that form due to the presence of potassium bitartrate, a substance found in grapes, can resemble to be a bed of roses.\u00a0 The image is part of the senior project of chemist Luis Brudna Holzle, who is using visual impact to teach and publicize his discipline on the Internet. \u201cI look for images in chemistry that can provide explanations and then try to infuse some beauty into the photos,\u201d he says.\u00a0 The results can be seen at: emsintese.com.br and imagens.tabelaperiodica.org, sites maintained by the Federal University of the Pampa (Unipampa), in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul.
