The information comes from a network of radars in Campinas, Bauru, Presidente Prudente, and S\u00e3o Roque in the state of S\u00e3o Paulo, and Petr\u00f3polis in the state of Rio de Janeiro, in addition to high-resolution images from the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES). &#8220;The application can help the public prepare for heavy rainfall, reducing their vulnerability to weather events,&#8221; says meteorologist Luiz Augusto T. Machado, a researcher at the Brazilian Institute for Space Research (INPE) and coordinator of Projeto Chuva (the Rain Project).
