The foundation received 19,980 funding requests and 10,186 new proposals were approved. The data is part of the 2017 Activities Report, which FAPESP released this month. The document, which is published annually and is available at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fapesp.br\/publicacoes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.fapesp.br\/publicacoes<\/a>, also shows that 41% of this funding was applied through scholarships, 30% through regular research grants, and 29% via special programs and technological innovation initiatives. In terms of investment objectives, 57% of the resources were directed to applied research, 38% supported the advancement of knowledge, and 5% was spent on research infrastructure in the state. The University of S\u00e3o Paulo (USP) received 45% of the total funds, followed by the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), which received 13%, and federal research institutions in the state of S\u00e3o Paulo with 12.5%.
