{"id":320375,"date":"2020-01-08T17:20:20","date_gmt":"2020-01-08T20:20:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/revistapesquisa.fapesp.br\/?p=320375"},"modified":"2020-01-08T17:20:20","modified_gmt":"2020-01-08T20:20:20","slug":"material-releases-drug-at-regular-intervals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/revistapesquisa.fapesp.br\/en\/material-releases-drug-at-regular-intervals\/","title":{"rendered":"Material releases drug at regular intervals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An international group of researchers, including Brazilians from the University of S\u00e3o Paulo (USP) and the Federal University of Uberl\u00e2ndia (UFU), has developed a nanostructured material capable of releasing drugs in low concentrations at regular intervals (<em>Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan<\/em>, May 31). &#8220;It\u2019s like taking several capsules at the same time,&#8221; explains physicist Osvaldo Novais de Oliveira Junior, from the S\u00e3o Carlos Institute of Physics (IFSC) at USP and one of the researchers who developed the material. &#8220;But the release cycle of the substances in each capsule is regular and controlled.&#8221; This is because some of the drug molecules remain trapped in the capsule while some are released.
