The plan is for the center, Oxford\u2019s first in the Americas, to begin operation by 2022, to be managed by Brazilian pediatrician Sue Ann Clemens, who coordinated Brazil\u2019s clinical trials of the vaccine jointly produced by the university and AstraZeneca. Clemens currently directs the Institute of Global Health (IFGH) at the University of Siena in Italy. The center to be opened in Rio will receive funding from the British government and scientific support from the IFGH and the International Vaccine Institute in South Korea.
