The association will expand the visibility of Brazil and other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, South Africa, Spain and Portugal and provide them with access to scientific production, allowing researchers to analyze the regional content within the context of international scientific production. \u201cThe SciELO database, which has been supported by FAPESP since 1998, is one of the first initiatives to offer open access to scientific literature. The agreement with the Web of Knowledge opens up new horizons for SciELO\u2019s mission of increasing the visibility of the science being done in Latin America, Spain and Portugal,\u201d said Carlos Henrique de Brito Cruz, FAPESP\u2019s scientific director. \u201cThe partnership with SciELO is not only going to increase the reach of scientific research in developing countries, but will also bring \u00a0new depth to our own data. Researchers from all over the world will have new insights, based on the impact of the research that comes from these regions,\u201d said Keith MacGregor, executive vice president of Thomson Reuters.
