In 2019 alone, the foundation allocated R$199 million to these areas, corresponding to 15.9% of its total annual funding (R$1.26 billion)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><div class='overflow-responsive-img' style='text-align:center'><picture data-tablet=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/009_Dados_321-0-desktop-true.png\" data-tablet_size=\"1140x450\" alt=\"Desembolsos anuais em fomento da FAPESP\">\n    <source srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/009_Dados_321-0-desktop-true.png\" media=\"(min-width: 1920px)\" \/>\n    <source srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/009_Dados_321-0-desktop-true.png\" media=\"(min-width: 1140px)\" \/>\n    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive-img\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/009_Dados_321-0-mobile.png\" \/>\n  <\/picture><\/div><div class=\"post-content sequence\">\n<ul>\n<li>The Research Internship Abroad program (BEPE) is currently FAPESP\u2019s primary instrument for supporting the internationalization of research, but international partnerships, foreign research fellowships (the BPE program), and visiting researcher initiatives also deserve to be mentioned<\/li>\n<li>As a result of the pandemic and the subsequent travel restrictions, funding for these lines was reduced significantly, falling to around R$60 million per year. However, commitments of R$173 million made by the end of September 2022 indicate a strong recovery this year. It primarily serves doctoral and postdoctoral students.
