{"id":485008,"date":"2023-07-05T17:45:18","date_gmt":"2023-07-05T20:45:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/revistapesquisa.fapesp.br\/?p=485008"},"modified":"2023-07-05T17:45:18","modified_gmt":"2023-07-05T20:45:18","slug":"international-collaborations-in-scientific-articles-published-by-sao-paulo-based-researchers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/revistapesquisa.fapesp.br\/en\/international-collaborations-in-scientific-articles-published-by-sao-paulo-based-researchers\/","title":{"rendered":"International collaborations in scientific articles published by S\u00e3o Paulo\u2013based researchers"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>In the last 10 years, the percentage of scientific articles published<sup>1,2<\/sup> by authors based in S\u00e3o Paulo that involved international collaborations increased continuously and significantly<\/li>\n<li>The percentage of total papers involving international collaborations increased from 27.1% to 45.5% between the four-year periods of 2009\u20132012 and 2019\u20132022<\/li>\n<li>In absolute numbers<sup>3<\/sup>, the increase was from 4,824 of 17,824 total articles with authors based in the state in the first period to 12,617 of 27,732 total articles in the second<\/li>\n<li>Growth of collaborative articles (162%) over the period was almost three times greater than total growth (55%)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><div class='overflow-responsive-img' style='text-align:center'><picture data-tablet=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/RPF-dados-2023-05-info-1-1140.png\" data-tablet_size=\"1140x412\" alt=\"Publica\u00e7\u00f5es cient\u00edficas de S\u00e3o Paulo com colabora\u00e7\u00e3o internacional e sua participa\u00e7\u00e3o no total\">\n    <source srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/RPF-dados-2023-05-info-1-1140.png\" media=\"(min-width: 1920px)\" \/>\n    <source srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/RPF-dados-2023-05-info-1-1140.png\" media=\"(min-width: 1140px)\" \/>\n    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive-img\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/RPF-dados-2023-05-info-1-760.png\" \/>\n  <\/picture><\/div><div class=\"post-content sequence\">\n<ul>\n<li>Collaborations grew significantly with countries that most frequently collaborate with researchers from S\u00e3o Paulo, including their most common partner: the USA. The country partnered with S\u00e3o Paulo on 5,185 papers in the 2019\u20132022 quadrennium, representing 41.1% of all articles published by the state that involved international collaboration<sup>4<\/sup><\/li>\n<li>The country whose participation grew the most was Australia, which rose from 268 papers to 1,212, an increase of 352%, moving from 12<sup>th<\/sup> position in the list to 8<sup>th<\/sup><\/li>\n<li>France (+125%) and Argentina (+100%) were also involved in more coauthorships, but they increased more slowly than other countries, causing them to fall down the list, with France going from 2<sup>nd<\/sup> to 5<sup>th<\/sup> place and Argentina from 8<sup>th<\/sup> to 15<sup>th<\/sup><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><div class='overflow-responsive-img' style='text-align:center'><picture data-tablet=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/RPF-dados-2023-05-info-1-11403.png\" data-tablet_size=\"1140x480\" alt=\"Publica\u00e7\u00f5es cient\u00edficas de S\u00e3o Paulo com colabora\u00e7\u00e3o internacional e sua participa\u00e7\u00e3o no total\">\n    <source srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/RPF-dados-2023-05-info-1-11403.png\" media=\"(min-width: 1920px)\" \/>\n    <source srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/RPF-dados-2023-05-info-1-11403.png\" media=\"(min-width: 1140px)\" \/>\n    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive-img\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/RPF-dados-2023-05-info-2-760.png\" \/>\n  <\/picture><\/div><div class=\"post-content sequence\">\n<p class=\"bibliografia separador-bibliografia\"><strong>Notes (1)<\/strong> Papers published as an article, proceedings paper, or review according to Clarivate\u2019s Web of Science database. <strong>(2)<\/strong> A published article is considered an international collaboration if it includes authors based in other countries, in addition to authors based in the state of S\u00e3o Paulo. <strong>(3)<\/strong> Absolute values correspond to annual averages for the period in question. <strong>(4)<\/strong> A published article can have authors from several countries, resulting in the sum of the countries possibly being greater than the total number of published articles involving international collaboration for S\u00e3o Paulo. <strong>Sources<\/strong> Incites\/Web of Science\/Clarivate.
