The initiative is part of an experiment conducted by the AmazonFACE project in a reserve facilitated by the Brazilian National Institute of Amazonian Research (INPA) and will begin operating at the end of 2024, together with five other rings. The experiment will measure the physiological responses of the rainforest to predicted climate change conditions.
