Dubbed the Australia-Singapore Initiative on Low-Emissions Technologies (ASLET), the agreement includes an investment of US$20 million into researching and implementing zero or near-zero carbon technologies, fuels, and energy sources for use in maritime transport and port operations. The partnership formally reinforces the collaboration behind the Singapore-Australia Green and Digital Shipping Corridor, which will help decarbonize shipping routes between the two countries. \u201cWe need to focus on transitioning to low-emissions fuels such as ammonia and hydrogen by developing accessible technology and infrastructure at ports that support a range of vessels,\u201d said CSIRO chief executive Doug Hilton in a statement.
