The goal is to prevent hearing loss among gamers, especially children. For video game devices (consoles, personal computers, and headsets), the standard recommends a volume control that can be easily adjusted, alerts when the sound limit is about to be reached and the risk of hearing loss, and a safety mode that automatically adjusts the volume when a player switches between loudspeakers and headphones.
