Each winner will receive R$400,000 at a ceremony to be held in October. Bustamante is a professor at the University of Bras\u00edlia (UnB) and author of the chapter on agriculture and forests in the 6<sup>th<\/sup> Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). She specializes in ecology and land-use change in the Cerrado (<a href=\"https:\/\/revistapesquisa.fapesp.br\/en\/mercedes-bustamante-before-the-water-runs-out\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>see<\/em> Pesquisa FAPESP <em>issue n\u00b0 324<\/em><\/a>). Paiva is the author of the book <em>Ainda estou aqui <\/em>(I&#8217;m still here<em>; <\/em>2015), which describes the quest of his mother\u2014Eunice Paiva, a lawyer\u2014for answers about her husband&#8217;s disappearance.
