El Journal of Biological Chemistry (Peri\u00f3dico de Qu\u00edmica biol\u00f3gica) retir\u00f3 en febrero un art\u00edculo publicado en 2005 por los investigadores indios Gopal Kundu y Hema Rangaswami, del National Centre for Cell Sciences (NCCS), convencido de que existi\u00f3 un plagio de datos. Una denuncia an\u00f3nima dirigida a la publicaci\u00f3n mostr\u00f3 que Kundu incluy\u00f3 series de datos de control en el art\u00edculo que ya hab\u00edan sido publicadas en un paper de 2004, present\u00e1ndolas como originales.<\/p>\n
Un comit\u00e9 de investigaci\u00f3n institucional en el NCCS recomend\u00f3 a Kundu que pidiese el retiro del art\u00edculo, pero un segundo comit\u00e9 liderado por el bi\u00f3logo y ex-director del Instituto Indio de Ciencia, Govindrajan Padmanabhan, concluy\u00f3 que los alegatos no ten\u00edan sustento. \u201cSimplemente los datos de control de un experimento fueron utilizados en otro\u201d, dijo Padmanabhan al peri\u00f3dico The Indian Express<\/em>. \u201cEllos, est\u00e1 claro, deber\u00edan haber avisado del hecho, pero no existi\u00f3 mala fe\u201d. Kundu quiere demandar al peri\u00f3dico, cuya decisi\u00f3n califica como \u201cdr\u00e1stica\u201d.
