Pueden participar investigadoras que hayan concluido su doctorado a partir de 2004 en las \u00e1reas de ciencias biom\u00e9dicas, biol\u00f3gicas y de la salud, ciencias f\u00edsicas, ciencias matem\u00e1ticas y ciencias qu\u00edmicas. Cada ganadora recibe una beca de ayuda por valor de 20 mil d\u00f3lares. Lanzado en 2006, el programa, creado merced a una asociaci\u00f3n con la Unesco y la Academia Brasile\u00f1a de Ciencias (ABC), ha beneficiado a 26 j\u00f3venes cient\u00edficas. El jurado, presidido por el matem\u00e1tico Jacob Palis J\u00fanior, presidente de la ABC, cuenta con un representante de la Unesco, un representante da L\u2018Or\u00e9al y ocho investigadores designados por la ABC, entre ellos cuatro cient\u00edficas brasile\u00f1as contempladas en la versi\u00f3n internacional del premio, el L\u2018Or\u00e9al\/Unesco for Women in Science International: la genetista Mayana Zatz, la f\u00edsica Belita Koiller, la bi\u00f3loga Lucia Previato y la astr\u00f3noma Beatriz Barbuy.
