El premio se entreg\u00f3 el d\u00eda 3 de diciembre en Canc\u00fan, M\u00e9xico, como parte de las actividades de la World Conference on Lung Health.\u00a0 El primer lugar fue para Charles\u00a0 Mpaka, de Malau\u00ed, \u00c1frica Oriental, con el art\u00edculo \u201cA woman\u2019s face in tuberculosis\u201d, publicado por el\u00a0<em>The Daily Times<\/em>. En tercer lugar qued\u00f3 Neway Tsegaye, de Etiop\u00eda, con \u201cTB awareness and treatment challenges\u201d, que sali\u00f3 en el\u00a0<em>Addis Lissan News<\/em>. \u00c9ste es el primer premio internacional que recibe Pesquisa FAPESP. El art\u00edculo aborda dos estudios sobre el bacilo<em>\u00a0Mycobacterium tuberculosis<\/em>, causante de la tuberculosis, y retrata la dram\u00e1tica situaci\u00f3n de la enfermedad en el mundo.
