El cargo estaba ocupado acumulativamente por el presidente de la Capes, Jorge Guimar\u00e3es, desde el a\u00f1o pasado, cuando el profesor de filosof\u00eda Renato Janine Ribeiro dej\u00f3 la funci\u00f3n.
