La elecci\u00f3n tuvo lugar el d\u00eda 13 de marzo, en el marco de la IV Asamblea General de Rectores de la Red de Macrouniversidades, realizada en la Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica. La red est\u00e1 compuesta por 32 universidades y tiene como objetivo incentivar el di\u00e1logo y la cooperaci\u00f3n entre las instituciones. En tanto, el rector de la Universidad Estadual Paulista (Unesp), Marcos Macari, asumi\u00f3 la presidencia del Consejo de Rectores de las Universidades Estaduales Paulistas (Cruesp), en sustituci\u00f3n del rector de la Unicamp, Jos\u00e9 Tadeu Jorge.
