Creada por la Prorrector\u00eda de Investigaci\u00f3n de la UFMT con el objetivo de ofrecer apoyo para cursos e investigaciones en el Pantanal, la base est\u00e1 compuesta por un laboratorio para selecci\u00f3n del material biol\u00f3gico, estaciones de tratamiento de agua y de cloacas, auditorio, refectorio y alojamientos. Son 106 mil hect\u00e1reas de reserva, de los cuales 10 mil fueron cedidos a la UFMT para funcionamiento del centro.
