Era parte de la misi\u00f3n del Sat\u00e9lite de Observaci\u00f3n y Detecci\u00f3n de Cr\u00e1teres (LCROSS ) y probaba que el agua es m\u00e1s abundante y abarca una extensi\u00f3n mayor del sat\u00e9lite natural de la Tierra. Las muestras recogidas permiten vislumbrar la evoluci\u00f3n del sistema solar.
