Be\u00e7ak, de 80 a\u00f1os y uno de los pioneros de la gen\u00e9tica brasile\u00f1a, cre\u00f3 en 1960 el Laboratorio de Gen\u00e9tica del Butantan, el primero en realizar estudios citogen\u00e9ticos en el pa\u00eds. Actualmente se desempe\u00f1a como docente en la Universidad Federal de la Integraci\u00f3n Latinoamericana (Unila).
