El nuevo consejero fue el m\u00e1s votado en una elecci\u00f3n de la que participaron representantes de las instituciones de educaci\u00f3n superior e investigaci\u00f3n del estado, realizada entre el 11 y el 15 de junio. Su nombre encabezaba una terna enviada al gobernador por el Consejo Superior de la FAPESP, en la cual constaban los m\u00e9dicos e investigadores Arnaldo Lopes Colombo, de la Universidad Federal de S\u00e3o Paulo (Unifesp), y Dimas Tadeu Covas, director del Instituto Butantan. Especialista en qu\u00edmica org\u00e1nica, con \u00e9nfasis en la s\u00edntesis de f\u00e1rmacos y de productos naturales, Pilli fue responsable por 14 solicitudes de patentes.
