Su nombramiento se public\u00f3 el 15 de enero en una edici\u00f3n extra del <em>Diario Oficial de la Uni\u00f3n<\/em>. Filgueiras de Azevedo es investigador de la Divisi\u00f3n de Aerodin\u00e1mica del Instituto de Aeron\u00e1utica y Espacio (IAE) y docente del Instituto Tecnol\u00f3gico de Aeron\u00e1utica (ITA), donde concluy\u00f3 su carrera de grado en 1981. Con una maestr\u00eda y un doctorado en ingenier\u00eda aeron\u00e1utica y astron\u00e1utica por la Universidad Stanford, en Estados Unidos, Filgueiras de Azevedo desarrolla investigaciones computacionales en aerodin\u00e1mica y modelado de turbulencia. En 2015, su nombre integr\u00f3 la terna de candidatos a rector del ITA enviada al Comando de la Aeron\u00e1utica.
