Con este experimento, investigadores de Francia, Rusia y Alemania han demostrado que es posible revivir virus que permanecieron latentes durante milenios. Tras analizar antiguas muestras de permafrost provenientes de Siberia, del r\u00edo Lena y de Kamchatka, en Rusia, identificaron 13 grupos nuevos de virus, cinco de los cuales a\u00fan no hab\u00edan sido revividos: <em>Pandoravirus, Cedratvirus, Megavirus, Pacmanvirus <\/em>y <em>Pithovirus<\/em>. Los cinco son virus gigantes, que infectan bacterias e incluso a otros virus, pero todav\u00eda no hay constancia de que puedan causar problemas a los seres humanos.
