Su campo magn\u00e9tico, 50 veces m\u00e1s poderoso que el actual, facilitaba la acumulaci\u00f3n de materia. Cuando el material en derredor de J\u00fapiter se disip\u00f3, el planeta se contrajo bajo el peso de propia gravedad, su volumen se redujo y su velocidad de rotaci\u00f3n aument\u00f3. J\u00fapiter sigue encogi\u00e9ndose, aunque ahora lentamente, a medida que las temperaturas superficial e interna van descendiendo.
