El ministro de Finanzas, Palaniappan Chidambaram, destac\u00f3 el crecimiento de las inversiones p\u00fablicas en \u00e1reas estrat\u00e9gicas, en las cuales el pa\u00eds quiere convertirse en l\u00edder mundial, como la investigaci\u00f3n agr\u00edcola, la biotecnolog\u00eda y el desarrollo de productos farmac\u00e9uticos. El aumento de las partidas tambi\u00e9n contempla la construcci\u00f3n de un sistema de alerta de tsunamis. El Departamento de Desarrollo del Oc\u00e9ano contar\u00e1 con un refuerzo del 64% en sus recursos. Recibir\u00e1 87,7 millones de d\u00f3lares, incluidos all\u00ed 4,6 millones para crear un sistema de alerta y 5,8 millones de d\u00f3lares para recabar datos en el mar.
