Investigadores de la Universidad Louis Pasteur, en Strasbourg, en Francia, verificaron que esa especie, originaria de la India, posee relojes biol\u00f3gicos perif\u00e9ricos. Se encuentran principalmente en las c\u00e9lulas del h\u00edgado, el coraz\u00f3n y los ri\u00f1ones, y ayudan a controlar el ritmo circadiano, que regula la alternancia entre el sue\u00f1o y la vigilia. Los resultados de los experimentos sugieren que esas c\u00e9lulas poseen fotorreceptores, sujetos a la influencia de la luz.
