La Medalla Instituto Butantan, creada en 1981, fue otorgada a las diferentes personalidades el d\u00eda 19 de febrero. Entre ellas se encontraban el f\u00edsico e ingeniero electricista Jos\u00e9 Fernando Perez, director cient\u00edfico de la FAPESP, el m\u00e9dico Adib Jatene y el secretario de Salud del estado de S\u00e3o Paulo, Jos\u00e9 da Silva Guedes.\u00a0 Los candidatos son seleccionados por el consejo de la instituci\u00f3n, y la lista de laureados es divulgada por decreto del gobierno.
