Cavalheiro ocup\u00f3 el lugar dejado por Evando Mirra, quien asumi\u00f3 la direcci\u00f3n del flamante Centro de Gesti\u00f3n y Estudios Estrat\u00e9gicos. Dicho centro prestar\u00e1 asesor\u00eda t\u00e9cnica para el gobierno federal en el seguimiento y la gesti\u00f3n de recursos de investigaci\u00f3n y desarrollo. L\u00facia Melo y Marisa Cassin, provenientes del Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnolog\u00eda, ya se encuentran trabajando con Mirra. En principio, nada cambia en el CNPq, aunque el objetivo natural, con el probable aumento de recursos en raz\u00f3n de la creaci\u00f3n de los diversos fondos sectoriales, es incrementar el n\u00famero de becas, al margen de abrir m\u00e1s l\u00edneas para el financiamiento de proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n.
