Dicho sistema, llamado Wi-fi Solar, es indicado para \u00e1reas al aire libre y posee cuatro m\u00f3dulos: comunicaci\u00f3n por medio de un ruteador, panel solar fotovoltaico, bater\u00eda recargables que sostienen la operaci\u00f3n cuando hay baja irradiaci\u00f3n solar y un m\u00f3dulo de control de energ\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>Dos sistemas Wi-Fi Solar se encuentran en funcionamiento, instalados en columnas de alumbrado en la Ciudad Universitaria. Operan de m\u00ednima durante ocho horas diarias y m\u00e1s de 50 usuarios los utilizan, transfiriendo alrededor de 1 gigabyte de informaci\u00f3n. Entre las principales ventajas del nuevo sistema inal\u00e1mbrico se encuentra la eliminaci\u00f3n de la infraestructura de cables el\u00e9ctricos para la instalaci\u00f3n, adem\u00e1s de la reducci\u00f3n de gastos de mantenimiento y de mano de obra de t\u00e9cnicos.
