Surrounded by three monitors, a person creates images and musical compositions without any kind of manual equipment. “The body is your instrument,” explains Italian music therapist Elena Partesotti. The BehCreative mixed reality tool generates colors and sounds in response to arm and body movements. The aim is to study the behavior of the user for therapeutic purposes, such as motor recovery after a patient has suffered a stroke. The research is carried out at the Interdisciplinary Center for Sound Communication (NICS), in collaboration with the Brazilian Institute of Neuroscience and Neurotechnology (BRAINN), both at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP).
