FAPESP and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) have issued a call for proposals to support joint workshops to be held in any area of knowledge that promotes collaboration in all fields between researchers from Japan and the state of São Paulo. Two workshops will be selected and will last three days. One will take place in Japan and the other in São Paulo. FAPESP and the JSPS will each contribute the equivalent of US$80,000 per event. One of the objectives of the initiative is to encourage young researchers to share knowledge and experience and to foster the establishment of collaboration networks. Each proposal must have one coordinator on the Japanese side and the other from the state of São Paulo. The São Paulo coordinator must hold a full-time or equivalent position as a researcher at a higher education and/or research institution in the state of São Paulo and must meet the Thematic Project eligibility criteria. The Japan coordinator must hold a full-time or equivalent position as a researcher at a university or institution eligible for Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (Kakenhi). Proposals may be submitted until March 18, 2016. For the call for proposals in English, see fapesp.br/call/jsps/2016.
