The Brazilian Center for Analysis and Planning (CEBRAP), in the city of São Paulo, will host the Center for Critical Imagination: Political Economy and Citizenship (CCI), with the aim of fostering debates on global issues, such as the effects of neoliberalism, war, and climate change. Inaugurated in April, the CCI is supported by the Open Society Foundations (OSF), an international philanthropic network based in New York, USA, and active in 37 countries, founded in 1993 by Hungarian-American investor George Soros. The new center will be directed by philosopher Marcos Nobre of the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), former president of CEBRAP. It will offer postgraduate students the opportunity to conduct research in the center’s fields of study. New master’s graduates selected for the center’s training program will receive a grant of R$3,000 per month for nine months.
