Daniel BuenoA partnership set up in September 2013 during the FAPESP Week London symposium in the United Kingdom has just taken a step forward. FAPESP and Imperial College London, a university founded in 1907, issued the first call for proposals under the cooperation agreement signed by the two institutions. The selection process will close on May 19 and there will be an exchange of researchers from institutions of higher education and research (both public and private) in São Paulo State and in the United Kingdom affiliated with Imperial College London. Each institution will provide the equivalent of up to £6,000 per proposal per year to cover travel expenses. The call is open to proposals in all fields of knowledge and each project will be for a maximum of 24 months. For FAPESP, research proposals may be submitted by principal investigators for research awards under the following grant mechanisms: Regular Research Awards, Thematic Projects, Young Investigators in Emerging Institutions, Research Innovation and Dissemination Centers (RIDCs), the Program to Improve Public Education, the Public Policy Research Program and the Partnership for Technological Innovation Program (PITE). Team members of the related research awards are eligible for the exchange activities provided they are principal or co-principal investigators, post-doctoral fellows or doctoral fellows with ongoing grants. On the British side, full-time members of the academic or research team may submit projects.
