In March 2016 the University of São Paulo (USP) Career Development Office started operations. Its goal is to advise USP students about how to think about, prepare and plan their careers. “In undergraduate as well as graduate programs, we have specific academic career path problems, explains Professor Tania Casado of the USP School of Economics, Business Administration and Accounting (FEA), who coordinates the unit in the Undergraduate Dean’s Office. Casado explains that at this early stage the priority is to respond to requests from undergraduate students. She has 30 volunteers to advise undergraduate and graduate students. They are professionals with master’s degrees, doctorates and market experience. “Some are executives with major career management firms, and they will help us prepare for and take part in group career events and workshops on the theme they offer to students,” says Casado from the FEA.
