The Conrado Wessel Foundation (FCW), which has been giving annual awards to important figures in Brazilian science, art, and culture since 2002, has launched its own online magazine: FCW Cultura Científica. The objective is to “contribute to the debate on topics of great importance to the scientific and cultural development of Brazil,” as announced by then-president of FCW, Erney Plessmann de Camargo (1935–2023). The first issue, published in January 2023, addressed artificial intelligence (AI) and even featured an interview with chatGPT, an online AI chat program launched by OpenAI in November 2022. Through interviews with experts, the second issue of the magazine focused on health in the Amazon, and the third looked at biodiversity conservation. The most recent issue is about new materials, featuring interviews with scientists Adalberto Fazzio, Edgar Dutra Zanotto, Elson Longo, Thoroh de Souza, and Vânia Zuin Zeidler. Linguist and poet Carlos Vogt is currently president of the foundation and editor in chief of the magazine, which can be accessed free of charge at https://www.fcw.org.br/culturacientifica.
