Vahan Agopyan will assume his new role as Dean of USP on January 25MARCOS SANTOS / USP IMAGENSEngineer Vahan Agopyan was appointed Dean of the University of São Paulo (USP) by Governor Geraldo Alckmin on November 13. Agopyan was a professor at the USP Polytechnic School and served as vice-dean under Marco Antonio Zago. The 65-year-old topped the three-name list of candidates after receiving the highest number of votes from the university’s electoral college, which voted on October 30, and will take office on January 25, 2018, for a four-year term. The new vice-dean will be Antonio Carlos Hernandes, a professor at the São Carlos Physics Institute and currently associate dean of undergraduate studies.
