The architecture of the museum

The State University of Campinas (Unicamp) has launched an international public competition aimed at architects interested in presenting their projects for the institution’s Exploratory Museum of Science headquarters. The objective is to construct a 5,200 sq m building at a cost of R$ 10 million. The space should be used to house temporary exhibitions and will have an auditorium, an astronomical observatory and administrative, technical and leisure areas. Architecture professionals from anywhere in the world can present their proposals by March 6. The competition will be in two phases. The first will select the five best projects, which will be detailed in the following phase and evaluated in May by an international jury. The museum, which was established in 2006, has a collection based on the construction of experiments that allow the active participation of visitors.
