Course teaches how to create research projects

From May 2-5, the Brazilian Association of Technological Research and Innovation Institutes (ABIPTI) will provide the 12th edition of the course “Creating Projects and Leveraging Financial Resources in Science, Technology, and Innovation: From Theory to Practice.” The objective is to promote a culture of research project creation and management focused on leveraging the financial resources necessary to develop and implement scientific, technological, and innovation-based (STI) research in Brazil.

Created especially for sole proprietors and small businesses (particularly those involved in technology), as well as for owners of sponsored companies, undergraduate and graduate students, researchers and public policy managers involved in STI, the course is structured around theoretical lectures and workshops, and will be led by economist Félix Andrade da Silva, an adviser to ABIPTI.

The purpose is to provide individuals with the opportunity to work in groups and put into practice the concepts and techniques for structuring a research proposal, which are discussed and analyzed throughout the course. The course introduced the principles, methods, and basic techniques for creating research project proposals intended for the country’s main financing agencies and institutions that foster technological research, such as the Brazilian Funding Authority for Studies and Projects (FINEP), the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPQ), and the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES).
