Event sparks innovation at the university

Business owners, researchers, students and professionals from areas of innovation in 49 countries will meet in São Paulo in November 2016 for the seventh edition of the São Paulo Business Innovation Network (BIN@SP). Sponsored by the University of São Paulo (USP) through the USP Innovation Agency (Auspin), in partnership with the University of Porto in Portugal and the University of Sheffield in England, the event is designed to establish a forum for discussion and cooperation between businesses, universities and the public sector to kindle innovation and entrepreneurship in the academic environment. The idea is that representatives from technology-based companies and science and technology parks, as well as investors and economic development agencies, will share their experience, form collaborative networks and discuss innovative solutions for areas of common interest.

“Innovation and entrepreneurship need to be internationalized, and the best way to do this is for stakeholders from different cultures to come together,” says physicist Vanderlei Bagnato, professor at the USP Physics Institute in São Carlos, and coordinator of Auspin.

BIN@SP will feature panels, exhibits by companies with technologies they developed under the FAPESP Innovative Research in Small Businesses Program (PIPE) and guided tours of companies in incubators at the Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology (Cietec) on the main USP campus. The USP International Dissemination Center, the European and Latin American Business Services and Innovation Network (ELAN) will bring together representatives from Brazilian and European companies to discuss business opportunities.
