Green revolution

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) awarded the Hero of the Brazilian Green Revolution prize to 10 researchers. One of them was Heitor Cantarella from the Campinas Institute of Agronomy  (IAC). Cantarella specializes in soil fertility and serves as one of the coordinators of the FAPESP Program for Research on Bioenergy (BIOEN). The other winners were: Mauro de Rezende Lopes, Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV); Alberto Portugal, researcher, Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa); Carlos Clemente Cerri, Center for Nuclear Energy in Agriculture, University of São Paulo (CENA-USP); Geraldo Sant’Ana de Camargo Barros, USP; Lourival Carmo Monaco, president, Citriculture Defense Fund (Fundecitrus); Luiz Otávio Campos da Silva, Federal University of Viçosa (UFV); Teresa Losada Valle, IAC; Aroldo Galassini, Coamo Cooperative; and Ruy de Araújo Caldas, Catholic University of Brasília.
