In February the National Confederation of Industry Brazil (CNI) submitted a study of the outlook for more investment in innovation from the industrial sector this year. In companies with 250 or more employees, 46% will focus on improving or introducing new processes and 18% plan to develop innovative products. The sectors that are expected to invest most in innovative projects are plastics (57% of companies) and chemicals (45%). The automobile industry is the sector most likely to launch new products. Investment plans for innovation are geared more toward the external market and the intention of increasing installed capacity in industry in general by 20%, the lowest percentage since 2010.
