Integrated Production

Daniel BuenoThe scientific production of the University of São Paulo (USP), University of Campinas (Unicamp) and Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) can now be found and consulted freely through a single web portal. This portal is the repository of the Scientific Production of the Council of São Paulo State University Presidents (http://cruesp.sibi.usp.br/), created at the behest and with the support of FAPESP, and launched during the 4th Luso-Brazilian Open Access Conference on October 6, 2013. The portal will store and provide access to the work of researchers at the three São Paulo state universities. It will provide a single location for access to theses, dissertations, articles, books, abstracts and papers presented at scientific meetings and conferences, plus other publications made available by institutions through their repositories. For now, the Cruesp portal contains 56,000 articles published between 2008 and 2012 in journals indexed by the Web of Science. The goal is to publish those included in other databases, and other types of publications. According to Carlos Henrique de Brito Cruz, FAPESP scientific director, the launch of the Cruesp Repository of Scientific Production is an essential element of FAPESP’s new policy on open-access publishing of the results of scientific research funded with public resources.  “This is because it ensures self-archiving of articles published by researchers at USP, Unicamp and Unesp in the repositories of these institutions, as soon as the embargo established by the scientific journals in which the papers were published expires,” said Brito Cruz, according to the FAPESP News Agency.
